I was up at a friend's cottage in North Eastern Ontario this past weekend and made my pals stop in at almost every antique/salvage shop we came across, all I can say is "Hoarders=AMAZING!!!"
I don't want to think about Fall (really I don't) but it will be here, it's inevitable. Fall is the best time for dressing, all that play between layering, pattern and texture. Heck I don't like the cold but I do love the fashion!
I've been thinking about art/design that transcends it's own period and can be appreciated in generations to come. I came across this great exhibition of Madame Grès's work at Musée Bourdelle in Paris, via Garance Dore's site. This dress is circa 1946, wow! it's so contemporary. I just received my Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty catalogue from the exhibition that just ended in New York, can't wait to pour through every page.
Yes I love the two most stereotypical things about Italy, the cappuccino and the pizza (particularly from Napoli). A cup and a slice (well okay so... more than a slice) of HEAVEN.
When I was in Italy, especially in Rome, Florence, Milan and Bologna, I saw so many beautifully put together people in THE most perfect settings. I was too shy and self-aware to take pictures, I guess I'm not as brave as Bill Cunningham or as savvy as The Sartorialist. However I couldn't resist snagging this Roman beauty.
Sorry folks but I haven't blogged in a while because i was lucky enough to vacation in Italy for the entire month of July. In the upcoming months I hope to post some pics of my adventures...and if I can get out of this lazy carb-loaded vacation haze I'm still in I will start writing again too. For now enjoy!
My friend Judy sent me a link to this great new foodie magazine. I've been interested in tracking it down for her but it seems to be sold out :( Today I got chance to flip through a copy and I enjoyed it so much that now I want my own. The next issue is out in October, I'll NEED to my hands on it!
